On 20 July 2024, students of Army Public School, who had enrolled in the Media Masterclass Programme of SSF, had an enriching visit to Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II Museum, which was organised in collaboration with Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA) and Saksham Sanchar Foundation. The visit was a remarkable opportunity for the students to gain practical knowledge about the rich history of Jaipur.
The museum located in the historic City Palace exhibits an impressive collection of vintage buggies (carriages), intricate jewellery, traditional clothing, exquisite textiles and beautiful paintings. This collection provided the students with a tangible connection to the past, enhancing their understanding of the royal heritage of Jaipur.
One of the highlights of the visit was the timeless Kathputli (puppet) show, which enthralled the students with its lively storytelling and cultural significance.
Ram Dutt, Executive Trustee, MSMS II Museum, imparted invaluable information to the students about the maintenance of the royal heritage. He shared interesting information about the number of tourists from different countries visiting the museum, the history of Jaipur and the current royal family including Raja Padmanabhan Singh and Rani Sahiba of Jaipur. He also highlighted the royal family’s association with golf, emphasizing Raja Padmanabhan Singh’s achievements as a great golfer who also contributed to the Indian national team and led from the front as captain in 2017. Eager to know more about the past, the students asked him questions and he answered all their questions. The students asked him why the palace was cool when it was so hot outside and he replied that it is due to the use of limestone which is a poor conductor of heat and cold. Apart from this, the students were very happy to learn about the history, art, craft and culture of Jaipur inside this ancient palace.
Vishakha Vasnani, Social Media Manager of Syntexa, gave an engaging guest lecture on the use of social media and camera handling. He taught the students practical skills of using social media and cameras effectively, emphasising the importance of post timing and the impact of different types of angle shots. His session provided the students with valuable knowledge that connects traditional education with modern technology.
